Ruth M. Henrichs, 100

MT. PULASKI, IL - Ruth M. Henrichs, 100, of Mt. Pulaski, IL (formerly of Danforth, IL.), passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Vonderlieth Living Center.Ruth was born December 28, 1923, in rural Danforth, IL, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Trepton) Johnson. She was baptized on March 1, 1924, by Pastor Staeling with her parents as sponsors. It was April 10, 1938, when she was confirmed at St. John’s by Pastor Hafermann.Ruth was married to Roy G. Henrichs on August 8, 1945, by Pastor Hafermann. It was rural Danforth where Roy and Ruth farmed and raised their family until Roy’s passing in 1981.Ruth is survived by her daughters, Janet (Larry) Schahl of Mt. Pulaski, and Judy (Larry) Wubben of Riverton; four grandchildren: Jason (Kim) Schahl, Jennifer (Daniel) Ballard, Laura (Dom) Herrig, Steven (Kathleen) Schahl; and four great-grandchildren: Carly, Molly, Norah, and Levi. Ruth was the last of her immediate family.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Ronald Roy Henrichs; her siblings: Edith Depler, Vincent Johnson, Phyllis Tammen, and Doris June Pankey.Ruth was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Danforth. She taught Sunday school, took part in the women’s organization, enjoyed Bible study, and volunteered for the adult literacy (Alive) program. After moving to Mt. Pulaski in 2002, she attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski and later Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Ruth also taught "rules of the road”, loved music and gardening, and especially enjoyed being with family and friends.Services for Ruth will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will take place one hour prior from 9:00 am to 10:00 am also at the church. The burial will follow that afternoon at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 24 at Danforth Cemetery in Danforth, IL where all family and friends are welcome. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or School of Mt. Pulaski, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth, or Vonderlieth Living Center of Mt. Republished with updated service informationLINCOLN, IL - Kenneth Lee "Kenny" Garriott, 88, of Lincoln, passed away May 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held for Kenny and for Mary Polen May 25, 2024 from 4-6 PM at the American Legion Post 263.Kenny was born October 10, 1935, in Armington, IL., the son of Russell Allen Garriott and Bessie (Troxel) Garriott. He married Mary Martin, they later divorced. Kenny married Jenny Harrison Johnson, she preceded him in death. He later married Linda Osborne Tripplett, she preceded him in death.Kenny was a barber in Lincoln for more than 50 years. He also worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for more than 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 263 and spent most days there with his friends. He enjoyed watching sports and NASCAR, gambling, and a cold Old Milwaukee Light.Survivors include his son Rusty (Alecia) Garriott; grandchildren: Austin Garriott, Nathan Garriott (Chloe), LaDonna Buckles, Anthony Garriott, and James Garriott; He was very excited that Nathan and Chloe are expecting a child. Several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Mary, Jenny, and Linda, sons Anthony Garriott and Ricky Garriott, sister Mary Gosda, and Eugene Garriott.Memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.

LINCOLN, IL - Dorothy Ann Knollenberg, 91, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her home.Dorothy was born July 25, 1932, in Lincoln, the daughter of John and Ann Louise (Kodatt) Starcevic.Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Maggie) Knollenberg and Daniel (Audrey) Knollenberg; a daughter, Dee Ann Knollenberg; seven grandchildren, Dustin, David, Douglas, Brandon, and Nicholas Knollenberg, Erica Tomkinson, and Lori Shevlin; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Jean Collum.She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis Knollenberg; and sister, Sharon Hodnett.Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She worked at LDC for 27 years as a dietician. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church and a lifetime member of the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.A private family burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church for masses or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Charlene Williams, 84

ARGYLE, TX - Charlene Williams, 84, surrounded by family, was peacefully called from her earthly home in Argyle, Texas, to her eternal home in Heaven on May 10, 2024. Charlene was born in Dongola, Arkansas on May 30, 1939, to Coy and Iva (Daniel) Bryan.Charlene raised her sons in Delavan, IL, and when they were grown, she moved to Lincoln, IL.In 1983, Charlene married Roger Williams of Lincoln, IL. Roger was the love of her life, and they enjoyed many years together before he passed away in July 2000.Charlene worked at the Lehn & Fink factory from 1963 to 1995, where she was recognized many times with awards for her excellence in production, her impeccable attendance and company loyalty. It was her first and only job, and her hard work paid off. She was very fortunate to be offered early retirement at the young age of 56.In 2000, Charlene re-dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, and joined First Baptist Church of Lincoln, Illinois. She was lovingly discipled and baptized by Pastor Robert Henderson. She cherished her friendship with Pastor Robert and his family and grew strong in her faith under their leadership.Charlene faithfully served the Lord, and her church family in many areas: Youth ministry, "Women of Faith” women’s ministry, funeral ministry, and Senior's ministry. Charlene was so proud of her church home and worked cheerfully to keep it looking beautiful. From cleaning the kitchen, straightening up the sanctuary and planting flowers out front; she longed to make it a place that God would be honored, and everyone feel loved and welcomed!Charlene enjoyed gardening, cooking, planting flowers, playing cards, and gathering with family & friends. She was so generous with all God had gifted her and loved to share it with those she loved!She was preceded in death by her parents (Coy & Iva Bryan), her husband (Roger Williams), her brother (Clifton Bryan), youngest son (Jeffery Horton) and stepson (Gregory Williams).She is survived by her oldest son, Randy Horton, and his wife Traci of Argyle, TX; two stepsons: Jeff Williams of AZ, and Daniel Williams of Lincoln, IL; two cherished like "sons”: Todd (Jodi) Horton of Fort Worth, TX, Eric Horton of Conway, AR; grandchildren: Natalie (Ed) Eaton of Fort Worth, TX, Blaze (Kassie) Horton of Chatham, IL, Keifer (Morgan) Horton of Grapevine, TX, Payton (Preston) Hanco*ck of Northlake, TX, Austin (Jody) Horton of Fort Worth, TX, and Matthew Horton of Fort Worth, TX; six great-grandchildren: Kinley, Jett, Davy, Brynlee, Beau, and Nathan. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services will be held at Bill DeBerry Funeral Home (2025 W. University Drive Denton, TX) on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm.She will then be laid to rest next to Roger Williams at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 20, 2024, at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, IL.We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the amazing care team lead by Nicole McCaughan, Director of Nursing at Teresa’s House/ Argyle, Margo Brooks of Margo Brooks Senior Services, Jody Lyons of Arcy Hospice Care, and Vicki/Nicholas continuous care nurses of Arcy Hospice Care. MELVIN, IL. - Steven Lynn Mileham, 72, of Melvin, IL. (formerly of Weldon, IL.), passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Mattoon Rehab and Health Care Center.Steve was born on October 4, 1951, in Lincoln, IL., the son of Elmer Lee Mileham and Lillie Irene Schultz. He married Margie Ann Woodard in 1970 and they had 4 children. They later divorced.He is survived by his children: Lynn (Bruce) Cox, Lisa (Michael) Stoerger, Laura (Scott) Mims, and Leland (Jodi) Mileham; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and his brother: Michael (Janet) Mileham. Steve is also survived by his loving companion of 35 years: Mary Mena, her 2 children: Denise (Frankie) Hubbard, Lyrica (Scott) Johnson, and her 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Steve is preceded in death by his parents.Steve graduated from Melvin-Sibley High School in 1970, and spent most of his life there farming, raising hogs, and also worked as a truck driver. He was a very talented musician and played in the family band for many years.Private family services for Steve will be held at a later date. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. LINCOLN, IL - Hugh Victor Chapman, 84, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Normal.Hugh was born April 12, 1940, in LeSage, WV, the son of William F. and Geneva (Stafford) Chapman. He married Mary Angela Wenger on March 4, 1960, in Nuremberg, Germany.Hugh is survived by his wife, Mary Angela; children, Jeff (Merideth) Chapman of Lincoln, James (Candace) Chapman of Whitmore Lake, MI, and John Chapman of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Toni, Isabella, Elijah, Zachary, Grace, and Luke; and three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Blake, and Lillia.He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, Fleetwood, Freda, Robert, and George.Hugh proudly served in the US Army. He was a member of Jubilee Bible Church in Medina, IL. Hugh also was a member of American Foundry Society and the Bartlett American Legion Post 1212. He traveled extensively during his life.Services for Hugh will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place two hours prior from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Hugh’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Essie L. Usherwood, 87

LINCOLN, IL - Essie L. Usherwood, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2024. She courageously battled Parkinson’s Disease for many years. Although it crippled her body, the disease never crippled her love, joy, or spirit.Essie was born August 31, 1936, in Southern Illinois. She married Scott Cordes, who passed away from an auto accident shortly after their wedding. Essie later married John W. Usherwood. Essie Usherwood worked at Bartman’s Nursing Home and later at Lincoln Developmental Center until her retirement.Essie’s life was her family. She lovingly raised four children, Lori (Rick) Howerton, John (Kayla) Usherwood, Julie (Jim) Hendrick, and Melanie (Jon) Wright. Her love for her children was matched only by her love for her grandchildren, Jared (Bridget) Howerton, Zach (Alisha) Howerton, Isaac Howerton, Katie Wright, Jessica Heidebrink, Alison Wright, Shelby (Tim) Usherwood, Justin (Megan) Heidebrink, Melissa Wright, Joshua Wright, Jonathan S. Wright, and Will Wright. Essie was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Mila, Hayes, Atlys, Marlowe, P.J., and Piper.Essie was preceded in death by her parents, Arlee and Lela Stephens; her sisters, Marie and Dorothy; her brother, Sid; her daughter, Lori; and her son, John.Essie will be missed greatly but warm memories will always linger, reminding her family of the blessing of her life. Above all, her family rejoices knowing Essie’s eternal life with Christ has begun and that her departure is not goodbye but rather see you soon.Services for Essie will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place one hour prior from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Mason City Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Essie’s name to her daughter, Julie Heidebrink, to assist with Miss Essie’s Legacy Fund to help single mothers raise their children.

Robert "Bob" Hildebrand, 93

GLEN ELLYN, IL - Robert "Bob" Hildebrand, 93, passed away May 4, 2024 in his home in Glen Ellyn, IL.Bob was born August 12,1930 in Emden, Illinois where he grew up. His successful high school basketball career led to his induction into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame. After high school he attended Illinois Wesleyan University where he continued his basketball success under coach Jack Horenberger. After Bob graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and after a brief time with the Denver Bankers basketball team, Bob was recruited by General Electric to its three-year advanced management development program which took him to various locations throughout the United States including Boston, MA, Fort Wayne, IN, Bloomington, IL, and Decatur, IL. In 1964 he relocated to Chicago and settled in Glen Ellyn, IL. Bob finished his career as an officer at RR Donnelley where he contributed to its plant expansion both in America and internationally, solidified its union-free status, and helped select the employees for its facilities. After retirement Bob contributed to RR Donnelley as a part time specialist until 2000. Bob was raised with Christian values which guided him to have a positive work ethic and integrity in the workplace.Bob married his high school sweetheart Ann Ash and they raised two children. He was an avid fan of Big Ten athletics, particularly Illinois and Northwestern. His passion for sports continued throughout his life and he could often be seen running around the track at Glenbard West into his 70’s. Less than one month after celebrating his 49th birthday, Bob’s first grandchild was born. Bob felt too young to be called "Grandpa,” and so his grandchildren started calling him "Bob” and it stuck. Bob was almost always present as Bob and Ann hosted holiday events with family and made sure everyone had new socks at Christmas. His signature, flowing white hair could often be seen pacing behind dugouts and around bleachers during his grandchildren’s sporting events.Bob was proceeded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ann Ash Hildebrand of Atlanta, IL, his daughter Rebecca (Richard) Vincens and his brother Don Hildebrand. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Doreda) Hildebrand, his son Robert (Cindy) Hildebrand, his grandchildren Adam (Maggie) Vincens, Jason Vincens, Christian (Kristin) Hildebrand, Kelly (Billy) Collins and nine great grandchildren.Visitation will be at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home in Glen Ellyn on Friday, May 17 from 3:00-7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held in Atlanta cemetery Atlanta, Illinois on Saturday, May 18 at 11:00 am. with Mr. Tony Billingsley officiating.Quiram Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LINCOLN, IL - Leslie R. "Les” Wood, 73, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.Les was born on July 28, 1950, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Allen B. and Betty Jean (Deweese) Wood. He married Barbara Maltas on July 18, 1970, in Lincoln, IL.Les is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Lisa Dial; his son, Robert (Sherri Galvin) Wood; his granddaughter, Tiffany (Zach) Lee; his two great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; and his stepbrothers, Mark Hurley and Chuck Hurley.Les was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Wood; and one step grandchild.Les worked at Lehn & Fink, The Logan County Sheriff's Department, Lincoln City Police, Lincoln Correctional Center, NAPA, Bill Sahs, Wood Wildlife Service, and worked with the Logan County Paramedic Association.When Les wasn’t working, he could be found playing drums for several local bands, including the New Salem Country Opry and the Mason City Country Opry. He also loved spending time with his father and son going hunting and fishing. He proudly served his country in the National Guard of The United States.Services for Les will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL. Visitation will be held the evening prior, Friday, May 17, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, IL, where full military rites will be accorded. Memorial donations may be made in Les’ name to his family.

Miller, 60, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.Funeral Services for Karen will be on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with Mr. Ryan Edgecombe. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.Karen Lynn Bruce was born on April 5, 1964 in Kankakee, Illinois the daughter of Fred Carmichael and Dorothy Rock. She was united in marriage to Edward Miller on June 10, 1983. He survives.Also surviving are her children: Joseph (Brittney) Miller, Erin (Charlie) Albertson. Six grandchildren: Morgan Albertson, Dustin Albertson, Bentley Albertson, Blake Albertson, Kaitlyn Lambert, Andrew (Jenna) Lambert.Seven great grandchildren: George West, Maycie West, Mia Lambert, Dreyden Van Cleve, Isabella Albertson, Arabella Albertson, Cedric Albertson. One sister: Nancy Polen, one brother: James Bruce , one half brother: Seth Carmichael. Mother-in-law: Ann Miller, two sister-in- laws: Amy (Roger Skelton) Ingram, Valerie (Randy) Madigan. One brother-in-law: Rick (Chris) Miller. Her four legged companion : Jack.She was preceded in death by her mother: Dorothy Rock, great granddaughter: Sophia Lambert, father-in-law: David Miller, two brother -in-laws: Dennis Ingram and Tim Polen.Karen graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1982. She had previously worked at the Lincoln Development Center and Dollar General. Her hobbies were decorating her yard, wind chimes and spending time with her grandchildren.Memorials may be made to her family in care of Erin Albertson.Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
