An interesting post from Calash on the UK Solar PV incentive structure and its impacts on projects. The solar supply chain needs to grow in reaction to a sustained increase in installations since 2020. Likewise, investment opportunities related to equipment, engineering, installation, and maintenance are growing in volume and value but technical and market risks still remain high.Solar equipment and services are one of the markets that are taking up an ever larger share of our time at Candour. Drop one of the team a line to get our thoughts on the sector.#solar#mergersandacquisitions#privateequity#duediligence

The PV industry has undergone a shift, transitioning from a sole focus on cost reduction to a stronger emphasis on performance improvement as prices have declined in recent years.I would highly recommend exploring Exawatt's whitepaper to discover how the high performance PV technologies, e.g. AIKO Groundbreaking N-Type ABC, are translating into tangible benefits to the end-users. This work provides valuable insights that industry professionals will find informative.

The Value of High-performance PV TechnologyThe PV industry is ever evolving. Over the last decade, solar PV manufacturers have been highly effective at driving down manufacturing costs, and this has been a key focus of the industry. However, the era of “easy wins” has ended. Gains will now be harder fought, likely relying on either alternative materials or new technologiesThe industry is now increasingly focused on improvements in module efficiencies, as manufacturers advance current technologies and adopt new ones. However, it can be difficult to contextualise technology advancements and efficiency gains, and challenging to understand the benefit that these improvements can bring to distributors, installers and systems ownersExawatt (now a part of the CRU Group) has just released its latest white paper, written by Molly Morgan and Alex Barrows, built on analysis from our Solar Technology and Cost Service. The white paper explores and compares key module parameters for different technologies and analyses the value these different technologies may bring to both residential and commercial installations. We provide professionals through the value chain with a resource to help enhance their understanding of the benefits of high-performance technologiesThe whitepaper is free and available to download in full here: https://lnkd.in/eeqEU4gYPlease don’t hesitate to get in contact with Exawatt if you have any questions!#solarPV #LCOE #paybacktime

According to American Clean Power, the United States only had 7 GW of module manufacturing capacity in 2021. However, over the past eight months, 46 utility-scale clean energy manufacturing facilities have been announced, bringing with them more than 18,000 jobs. Trina Solar, Canadian Solar, and Longi have announced they are each constructing 5 GW of solar module manufacturing facilities in the United States for a combined 15 GW of capacity. Each factory will represent $200 million to $600 million in capital expenditure for the companies. Trina Solar will invest $200 million in a Texas manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 5 GW. Longi is set to construct a 5 GW panel assembly factory in Ohio. Canadian Solar will build its 5 GW manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Texas, where they will produce the company’s TOPCon solar panels. To save energy & cost for your business, contact me at https://buff.ly/2EjAMbu.#Reliability #EnergyStorage #EnergyEfficiency #Renewables #EnergyAudit #Procurement #Resiliencehttps://buff.ly/44WP4b3

Personally, I've always wondered why developers look for tier1 solar PV module manufacturers while doing a techno-commercial analysis. As per BloombergNEF Tier1 #Solar Module Maker Methodology, "Tier 1 module manufacturers are those which have provided own-brand, own-manufacture products to at least six different projects, which have been financed non-recourse by six different commercial banks, in the past two years." These projects should be >=5MW in size. The document strongly recommends for module purchasers and banks to not use this list as a measure of quality but instead consult a technical due-diligence firm such as #RINA. Since this basic categorization has been used as an advertisem*nt by certain manufacturers, it should never replace a proper due #diligence process in product selection.

Customers buy PV modules with up to 30years of warranty. One of the key messages in the presentations that I make about LONGi Solar is explaining why financial health and stability really matters in the #pvindustry. I also wrote back in 2023 that after the huge price drop in module prices last year, in 2024 we will see why financial health is so important.Read below insighful article, several PV manufacturers are in or close to financial distress zone.LONGi Solar Europe
